POA (Perils of Akumos) beetles and maintenance doors

I took a long break from Adventures Games Live due to my busy schedule, so now I don't remember everything about POA. I just completed that maintenance doors task, but all I seem to get out of it is a dead beetle.

Can I take the rubber tubing out of the maintenance doors now? If so, how? When is that guy with the safe going to leave his room so I can open the safe (I've figured out the poem)? What else can I do now that I've completed that maintenance doors task?
