I kept flitting back and forth between wizard and sorcerer to get the spells I wanted, and in the process, he was dead broke and needed his pals to give up their gear or go on a gold-seeking mission three or four times to keep his drive alive.

There's nothing wrong with sharing items or gold between parties. It's even suggested in the documentation. It's just that I don't like to do it.

I guess having a party of six bring your guy to Kaliti does impugn the one-characterness of your game, but it was honourable indeed for you to take a poor, dead, unemployable spellcaster and elevate him to retirement and eternal wealth. Well done.
