> This is only sort of related, but this also seemed like the best forum on which to ask this question. My wife and I (both hopeless MR addicts) are planning on taking a road trip this summer. I really wish that we could download MR so we could play on our trip and aleviate some of the boredom of driving through Indiana. Since we can't, I was wondering if anyone knows of any good PC games that are anything close to MR. I've been shopping around a little bit, looking at titles like Baldur's Gate, etc, and the thing that sucks about those games is that you only actually get to create one member of your party most of the time. Thanks.
Murkon's Refuge is based heavily on two classic games from the 80s: Bard's Tale and Wizardry. There is more Wizardry in MR than anything else, but I was a bigger Bard's Tale fan. If you look around, you may be able to find "The Ultimate RPG Archives" from Interplay, which includes Bard's Tale I, II, and III, and Wizardry Gold. Wizardry Gold is pretty crappy compared to the original Wizardry games (I loved playing the first Wizardry on a Mac), but the Bard's Tale games are enjoyable enough. I can barely stand to play them because I grew up playing them on the Amiga which had 16 times as many colors and much better sound, so the old PC versions are terrible by comparision, but you may find them enjoyable.
Hope this helps.
