There's an important aspect of Murkon's dungeons that wouldn't be possible on Earth unless the dungeons were extremely close to the center of the planet. Attribute it to magic, I suppose.

That elevator is the key, but you'll need a key of sorts before you can even reach it. Here's a hint: "Your friends in the first level are to be taken with a grain of salt here."
