When levelling up on 9, I would find so many +2 Items of Specialness that they would easily pay for any Inn visits, even at Teralt. I just dropped the cheap items and only returned to rest when I ran out of healing magic. There's no reason for a non-spellcaster to visit an inn if you have a healing spell and he's not going to level up. Just CURE or RESTORE him, and he'll be Well Rested.
