This might be a bit late, but a hint for next time: Kaliti's inn is *much* cheaper than Lyesis' inn. What I did was, when levelling up on levels 8 and 9, I would use Kaliti as my base. Only when going deeper did I travel to Lyesis (by that time, I had more than enough gold).
