From the moment I step through the door leading to the corridor, large groups of monsters await me on three successive spaces. There I have managed to map only a very tiny portion, as I keep running into Mist Wraiths, Zombies and Evil Eyestalks who seem to be completely immune to offensive spells.
Have you tried unavoidable spells? Like razors, blades, arrows, etc..

Level up your sorceror a bit, you won't regret it -at all-.

Level up your troll sorceror a bit (say, until he's level 10), then try again. You don't have to do much on level 7, anyway. (Atleast, not from where you're entering it.) If one of your characters can cast "home" or you have a homing stone, 2 or 3 fights is all you have to do.
