I have read the poem about the sphinx, but I have no idea how to find the sphinx. I have the iron key, but I have no idea what it does. I remember a gate which said beware of the pig, but I couldn't climb it and, now that I know that "pigs like acorns", I can't even find the gate again! And what is all this about a head and a secret passage in the chapel? Anyway, any nudges you could give me would be most appreciated. > > > > P.S. I have both maps, some birdseed (what does that do?), some money (but nothing to buy with it), a pocketknife, and some other junk. > > Whoa, OK, I'm real smart. In just a few minutes after I posted this, I found the sphinx and used it accordingly. But I'm still stuck with the cogwheels, and all of my original questions still stand.
Sounds like you need to explore some more. I can think of at least one place in town that you need to go, and if you can't find the "Beware of Pig" gate, you should make a map and make sure that you have followed every path on it. Most of your problems simply require you to explore places that you have already been.
