Try going SE just after you enter the caves. From there it should be pretty straightforward (figuratively speaking) which way to go next to get to the next part of the railway.
I did write the entire route down a couple of times, but one set of notes went to recycling and the other is far, far away from here.
But definitely go SE first. And don't drop down to any lower levels as you go.
