It was immensely enjoyable. It was a different story, as it needed to be to make sense as a (relatively short) movie, but it also kept impressively close to the text. I love how they duplicated not just the plot but the feeling of the books. It's a rare movie that plays *up* the moral themes of a story, and I think they made a bigger deal of the themes than Tolkien did.
