How far south is the south? Because I live in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, and I've never even seen an NRA bumper sticker anywhere north of Prince George's County, or anywhere east of Frederick, except on the Eastern Shore, which doesn't count because it's all beaches and chicken farms out there. However, I've noticed that monster truck exhibitions, or as they say in redneck vernacular, "Monster Jams," are popular gathering places for these types.

Recently, I saw an interesting article in a magazine which has a title that evades my memory. The article was about the socioeconomic divisions in America, and how they affect politics, ethics, et cetera. People in small-town states or regions, called "red areas" in the article, are more religious, more satisfied with what they have, have less money per capita, and were more likely to vote for Bush. On the other hand, people in urban areas, called "blue areas" in the article, are less religious, more likely to be less satisfied with what they have, have more money per capita, and were more likely to vote for Gore. Another interesting note is that people polled in the red areas were almost exclusively WASPs, although the reporter strived to get a representative sample. Conversely, only half of the people polled in blue areas were even caucasian, and a large percentage of those were Jews or Catholics. What are your opinions on this issue?
