If it is anything like the technology I have seen, the shadows would. The version I have seen is essentially the same as the blue screen technology used for weather reports--commonly green screen now, I think. Coincidentally, that's the color of the fields, too. Basically, the images are superimposed on the green portions of the fields, so the players and their shadows appear to be "above" the image. Of course, if a particular jersey had some green in it that was the same shade as the field, you might get Invisible Athlete Syndrome.
