My interest is not at all in making people adopt a certain set of morals; my concern is with what our government, as a unit, adopts to represent the country as a whole. Given that I believe abortion is no different from murder, I refuse to use my vote and cast it in a way that would further a government that sanctions it. Some will have abortions anyway; that isn't really the point.

And that is where my dilemma lies. I also believe that abortion is murder plain and simple... one of my very good friends is an avid Republican (read: he agrees with issues merely because that's what Republicans say, not because he's actually thought things through). He and I used to get into huge arguments about issues and I honestly didn't like him much. But then we realized that we agree on moral issues, which are the things we truly think are important, which really makes no sense because I just gave all my reasoning for being a democrat because i think social issues are more improtant. Now I've confused myself. Anyway, this guy is now one of my closer friends, and as long as we avoid politics I have better, deeper conversations with him than I do with almost anyone else. I'm not sure what the point of this is... umm.... ooh! I got it! I truly hate how politics is such a divisive force in American society... I really appreciate that you, Sam, can understand where I'm coming from without trying to prove me wrong... but I've come to expect that at rinkworks. How cool.
