Monster arena: How is computer opponents strategy determined?

Something I have bee nwondering for monster arena is how do the computer generated opponents determine their strategy for the match?

It makes a big difference whether they each attack someone different, or have two monsters gang up on one of yours (which is MUCH harder and more likely to result in a character death, and thus a longer match, and thus higher medical expenses).

It is also important to know if they pick targets based on your character's stats, or at random.


I could see several ways that it could be:

1) It is randomly determined, but the same for each player. That is, monsters 1&2 might attack character 1 first for everyone, and monster 3 attack character 2, or something. If its the same for everyone, then it is "fair".

2) It is randomly determined for each individual player (but different). In this case, it is unfair for people who get two computer players attacking one of their characters, and in favor of those who luckily get 1 computer attacking each of their characters. Because the 2 on 1 battle strategy results in an opponent death sooner, and thus less attacks coming against you.

3) It is determined based on some algorith which factors your characters elements and/or stats.
If this is the case, what is the algorithm?

Are they more likely to gang up on a low defense character? What about a character that is higher in both defense AND offense than your other two, are they more or less likely to attack that character?

If this is the case, then a strategy which causes the opponents to each attack a different one of your characters gains a significant advantage.
