Acording to Snopes.com (see link below) that wasn't said by Willie Nelson, but by a comedian who tied the two timely events together.

I don't think you mean to say "You have to admire Willie", but rather "You have to admire Willie's honesty". Of course you personally might do both. I, on the other hand, don't have much respect for the guy with all the choices that he's made.
