Rob Reiner could come out with a "Special Edition" that swaps out the soundtrack, and that's all it would take. I wouldn't mind that, either, provided the original version remains equally available. If *only* the soundtrack were changed, it would be trivial to include both versions on a single DVD.


Philip Glass has done this. He wrote soundtracks for two films that lacked them ("Dracula" and "Cenere") and re-wrote the soundtracks for three others ("La Belle et la Bête," "Orphée," and "Les Enfants Terribles"). See link below for details (Trivia Item 1).
