You don't need an iPod. The word "podcast" is sort of a misnomer. Think of a podcast like a radio show (or a TV show -- some podcasts are video, rather than just audio) that gets broadcast over the Internet.

For all the fancy terminology, basically all it amounts to for you is this: point your browser to http://www.allmovietalk.com/, scroll down to the "Episode 1" post, hit the Play button, and you should start hearing the podcast. Assuming your sound is working properly.

I like your thoughts about technological changes over time. Technology is tricky to keep up with even for those of us who make a living by it, but I daresay that you do a fine job of it.
