Reviews and Comments

The Kennel Murder Case, arguably the most well known of the Philo Vance mystery films, stars William Powell -- the best Philo Vance -- unraveling a murder that seems to be connected to a dog show. The thirties were great for murder mysteries: they weren't ashamed to be creative within the bounds of the genre, and the black and white cinematography adds a great deal to the atmosphere. The Kennel Murder Case is a fine example.
