The 1958 Steve Reeves version of Hercules kicked off a prolific fad of sword-and-sandal films in Italy, which produced more than 60 movies before the trend suddenly died out in 1965. But in 1960, just as they were getting underway, they were already parodying themselves: Colossus and the Amazon Queen makes fun of the strong-man epic tropes that the genre was still in the process of inventing.

Unfortunately, the film has no particular comic insight -- the jokes are mostly about people falling over and dropping things -- and is in fact something of a chore to sit through.
