Reviews and Comments

Buck Privates became such a hit for Abbott and Costello, that it jump-started what would turn out to be long and prolific film careers. A lot of their best-known skits made their movie debuts here. Other than the historical significance of the film, however, there is little to set it apart from the other good entries in their repertoire. Abbott and Costello flicks rarely stray from the formula first established here. There is one unusual thing about Buck Privates, though: the musical interludes, mostly provided by the Andrews Sisters, are generally pretty good.
