Well, private funding for embryonic stem-cell research is still legal, but private funding comes to about 1% of what the government spends on these things. And many facilities will get both public and private funding, and they need to be very careful that they don't use test tubes paid for with public funds in privately sponsored research.

So this legislation will definately slow down stem-cell research in America, but probably not stop it.

And the blastocysts that would have been used in the research will instead be incinerated for no benefit.
