Charlie and Spike

I just ran into Charlie and Spike in the Tractor store. Two very interesting people, those two. They are father and son. I guess Charlie gave Spike that nickname when he was just a tack.

Anyway, they have the best father/son relationship I have ever seen. Charlie is a welder/mechanic and Spike paints cars. That's what they do for a living. Like me, they collect vintage motor scooters. They also restrore farm tractors as well as the motor scooters.

You never see one without the other. They attend scooter meets together and work on projects together. Charlie builds scooters up from rusty, worn-out hulks, and Spike does the finish work and painting. Their scooters always come out as works of art.

So it was no surprise to me this morning when I went to get some bolts for a scooter and Charlie and Spike walked in. Together. Sharing a common interest with your kids really pays off.
