If you are driving below 45 mph, you get better gas mileage with your A/C off and your windows open. Above 45 mph, it is better to close your windows and turn on the A/C. Of course, the best of all is to keep windows up and A/C off but that's not how the cool kids do it.

If you have a pickup truck, you actually get slightly better gas mileage if you leave the tailgate up instead of down.
