LaZorra pretty much said it. There's no hostility here. I can't even figure out why I *would* be hostile.

That part was more me than my generation. 50s-60s rock was about as popular then as it is today -- it's still very much listened to outside of the most mainstream radio stations, and the tunes are still as recognizable now as ever. The biggest difference is that the artists are a bit more removed now. In the 80s, John Lennon was shot, the Beach Boys made a comeback single in Kokomo, and the Rolling Stones were still touring...well, I guess they still are.
The equivalent today is that Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston are still in the spotlight (if not for the best reasons), Paula Abdul is having a second career as successful as her first, and Elton John, Billy Joel, Kenny Rogers, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Madonna, and Jon Bon Jovi are all still working.
