Hostile? Take it easy; you're the only one being hostile here. Sam's just musing on how views of the past change as you get older. He didn't see the '60's firsthand, much like you didn't see the '80's (lord I feel old), and perceives the '80's now like you most likely *will* perceive the 2000's twenty years down the road.
