This morning, shortly after 8:00 a.m., we felt a shock wave. It shook the whole house. It was one of those booms that you feel more than hear, but we heard a lot of stuff in the house rattling.

It seemed to be a single compressional wave, which probably eliminates earthquakes, but sonic boom and explosions are still in the running.

This happened once before, but that time it was much stronger. We definately heard that one. The explanation that I never believed for a minute, was that a neighbor let a fire get too close to a 5 gallon can of diesel fuel. What we heard that time was a sharp crack more like TNT. I heard a lot of explosions when I was working for my uncle (Uncle Sam) at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma almost 50 years ago.

This morning's boom might have been fuel going off, but it seemed to travel through the ground more than through the air.
