Don't count on it. When fuel prices spiked last year, it was enough that sold-out 727 flights (about 140 seats) flew at a loss. When fuel prices spike like this, everybody hurts. If it's for longer than a short period, ticket prices are going to have to go up enough that people will be driving or, more likely, staying put at home. Something's gotta give.
