Since it's impossible to put any of the AGL games into an unwinnable state, I replayed FQ1 to see if I could duplicate that.

The game wouldn't let me throw my hook by itself. No matter how many times I tried it, I got the message "You might lose it!" Tying it to the rope, then throwing it, only fell short and I could pull it back in.

It WOULD let me cast the fishing line at the bridge, and the hook for the FISHING POLE (not the one you buy at the store) broke off and fell down there. Which leads me to believe that's the hook you're missing, and that the one you need for the tower is still on hand or hasn't been purchased yet. (And that you've already caught yourself a fish.)

But that's just a wild guess since I remain solidly not-psychic. Inventory, please?
