As a sidenote, there is a story behind this one. Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettygrove, the founders of Portland, Oregon, each wanted to name it after his hometown. Lovejoy was from Boston, and Pettygrove was from Portland (the one in Maine, obviously). They decided to flip a coin to decide the name, Pettygrove won, and we know the rest.
