I know English speaking people treat it as if the "t" was silent, but I hear that in Southeast Asia and Japan, it is pronounced. I can't imagine how. > Howard
I, for one, have no problems saying "tsunami" with both the "t" and the "s" pronounced, and can't imagine how anyone would have. On the other hand, I can't say the "kh" sound properly. I end up pronouncing it as a "k" and a "h", or as an aspirated "k", even though it's supposed to sound like I'm coughing or something. I also have trouble saying "r" in that soft, purring way English speakers do. It always comes out very sharp. Oh, and I have trouble distinguishing between "v" and "w".
