Stuck on Quest of Kael--Need Hints Please!!

I feel so dumb--all of you are on Escape from St. Mary's, and I'm still stuck on The Early Years...

Anyway, here's what I have...
Rusty Sword
Short Knife
Strong Rope
Magic Book
Blood Capsule
Candle
Fishing Rod

I have a feeling that I need to get a climbing hook from the store, but I don't know how to get anything to pay for it. Plus, I keep winding up at that stupid campfire. Any hints at ALL would be appreciated!
