I think what bothers me, is that most of the Valentine's Day advertising is aimed at men, to buy something for their women. My Sunday newspaper had page after page of jewelry ads, for example (I don't know too many guys who wear heart shaped earrings)...and then there is that obnoxious television ad for teddy bears; it flat out says, "buy her this bear or you're sleeping on the couch". I don't like what it all implies about relationships or about women in particular.
