Hrm. I am in the exact same predicament as above; my inventory is the same as the above poster's, except I lost my note (the one about the kids who needed minding, right?) a long time ago. (I also don't have the virus'd disk; I gave it back to the boys after using it.)
I tried giving them everything, but they just don't seem interested. I've completed all the side-quests; I just need to get my bag and get outta here. A nudge in the right direction would be great.
