There's one thing you need to do before several of those, and that's in the mines. There are a couple of spots where you can jump from a mine cart when you're speeding along; at one of those places you'll be able to hear it zooming along without you -- see if you can find a way to catch up to it before it gets away.

Another important thing you can do is to sneak into a well-guarded room on the Corolis. Hint: it wasn't possible to get there before you used the tranq gun on the beast.
