Stuck in Fantasy Quest 1

No matter what I try I don't seem to be able to get to the second level of the tower. I can't find the fourth gold coin either (I've forgotten how many i gave the soothsayer and where i found them so im in serious trouble).Also, I've seen in other people's inventories things like winter cloak and I think something about a dagger. I have not gotten into either castle but i have smooshed the cat and talked to the sorcerer, hungry gnome(or whatever he was), and the guy who can't talk. I need serious help.
