GOA: QUESTIONS!!!!!

I'm at the beginning. I haven't been to any other worlds. I don't know how to get there. Here is my inventory:
You're Carrying:

Diving Mask

Pick

Life Preserver

Dead Fish
Broken Free Trial Sword of Failing

Ticket

Stone of Strengthening

Bucket
Magic Armor of Magic

Key of Questioning

Food Rations

Rope
Here are my questions:
1. Why can't I use the pick to break into the shack?
2. Why can't I use the Stone of Strengthening to lift the Boulder of Doom?
3. How do I get past a dragon whom I cannot damage save for a scratch on the nose?
4. Where do I find a torch to use in the forest?
And:
5. Where the freakin' heck do I go from here? I've tried everything! Several times! What am I missing?
