Well, I just filled my car up for £0.90 a litre. Today's exchange rate is roughly £1.00 = $1.81 (sourced from American Express), so that litre cost $1.63 which equates to a US gallon of $6.20.
I remember getting at least five (US) gallons for under five dollars in LA ten years ago. I couldn't quite believe it at the time. Back in the UK that $5 would barely have got me a gallon.
