how do you find the sage? i know thats how you get the beleif thing and are able to pick up the big boulder in the forest but i cant find him anywhere!!

i just finally sold the life preserver type thing to marion after like 50 tries but i dont know what i can do with one gold coin.

heres my inventory

60 Gold Coins
Guard's Sword
Food Rations
Bucket
Wire Clippers

Magic Armor of Magic
Stone of Strengthening
Dead Fish
Rope
Portrait
