If you're using Lantern and Location, then use Compass too. With it, you can maintain a constant "North = Up" position and still move in any direction. None of this having to turn to face a direction in order to follow it. Plus, you can more easily go methodically square by square to cover all the ground. Makes mapping a whole lot easier as well.
