MR: Stuck (Warning possible spoiler)

I defeated Murkon and returned the diadem in my first game and the 6 characters were retired. Couldn't use them so started a new game. My question is if there is a 7th character with a 0 lev. located below lev. 3 and he has a certain item, is it counted with my current inventory for my new group? I have only 5 in this new one and they have not been able to find an item permitting usage of the elevator. The odd character from my first game has it, but there's no earthly way this new group can get to him without it and he can't even get out far enough to reach them to transfer the item without getting himself killed. What do I do now? Scoured lev's 1 and 2 (snuck in the back door for the biggest part of lev. 2 :^) ) and every single square I could access in a part of lev. 3 wihtout finding this item. Any suggestions would sure be welcome. Gone past frustration to desperation. Thanx for any help. Banan
