Well, first thing is, are you making use of mapping spells like Compass and Location? Also, are you using light spells to see the squares surrounding your party? When using them, start making a map of some sort. Graph paper, some sort of graphics package, whatever you have to hand. Remember that the level is 20 squares by 30 and it wraps around each side. Once you have a decent map, you'll be able to know exactly where you are and thus, where you haven't been yet.
