Speaking of good songs, orchestra leader Gordon Jenkins, in 1948, wrote and recorded Manhattan Tower, which combined mood music, original songs, spoken narration, dialog, and sound effects to tell the story of an ambitious young man making good in New York City business and society.

I first heard this work in 1956, on my first visit to New York City at nineteen years of age. I found it to be both educational and entertaining. And I liked the sound effects too.
