Some thoughts about cereal.
I don't see them anymore, but a dogfood company used to run commercials with a dog owner reading the ingredients on a rival dog food bag. Then he looks up at the camera and says, "Why that's cereal." So my question is, how can it be good for your kids and bad for your dog?

I read an article about some market reseachers who calculated the price-per-ounce of all kinds of food available in supermarkets. The highest price-per-ounce was for brand-name cereal. They also suggested that the food value in most cereal is so low, you might be better off eating the box.
I never ate a cereal box, but I think cereal probably tastes a lot better.

They also noted that generic cereal in a plastic bag with no brand name was slightly cheaper than some other foods. There was no mention of the food value in the generic stuff, as compared to the plastic bag. I don't think I want to eat a plastic bag anyway, no matter how much food value it might have.

They also blasted pre-sweetened cereals and said the sugar was bad enough, but probably less harmful than all the other chemicals such as coloring, flavor enhancers and preservatives.

I have *got* to stop reading.
