Here it is.... the rest of the story.

I started having contractions at about 6 am Friday, but they didn't get very regular, or painful, until 1 am Saturday. They were 7 minutes apart for 2 and ½ hours. At 3:30 am my water broke and I woke Don up, we packed Rose into the car, called the grandparents (Don's parents) and headed off to the hospital. They met us there and took Rose home with them. My parents showed up about an hour later.

Just before they had arrived, I had asked for some IV medication to take the edge off the contractions, since I didn't want the epidural (I know, I know. Crazy, eh? But I would so do it this way again.)

The drugs they gave me allowed me to get some rest, so I wasn't very talkative at this point. At about 8:15 I really really really felt like pushing, but my doctor wasn't there (He was away on a skiing vacation, go figure!) and it had started to snow really badly in town so the partner in his practice was having trouble getting there. He finally got there at about 8:30 and we were able to get down to the business of giving birth!

This doctor, by the way, was wonderful, and I can't think of enough good things to say about him. The nurses were all great, too, and without the one nurse who coached me through the contractions, I probably would have begged for the epidural.

Anyway... without all the gory details...

Abigail Sage was born at 8:55 AM Saturday. 9 pounds, 6 ounces, 22 inches long. Who would have thought that little ol' me could have delivered a 9 pound baby?!? And I was feeling great and able to get up and walk around two hours later. Endorphins Rule!

She is precious, and wonderful, and delightful and beautiful and... I could go on for hours.

We stayed at the hospital until 9 pm Sunday, because hospitals are expensive and hard to sleep in.

Oh, and no, the baby has no teeth, Grishny
