Stuck on FQ1

I can't seem to kill the evil wood sprite. Whenever I try to rush past him to the west, he kills me. He won't let me go north or south either. I came from the east. Here's my Inventory

You're Carrying:
Sack
Silver Coin
Rope
Branch
Silver Key
Gold Key
Sword
Shovel
Hammer
Nails
Bow
Arrow
Club
Ticket
Sunstone

I've been to the tower too, but whatever I try the guard guy won't let me in.
