States and localities also vary enormously on what it takes to get on the ballot. The main party candidates are placed on the ballot automatically; courts in some states have ruled that the 'public right to a choice' supercedes legal stipulations. Minor parties are not really a consideration, so they DO have to meet the legal requirements. Some places, you just sign a few documents. Other places, it is necessary to collect tens of thousands of signatures. Obviously, small-time campaigns can't do this. Nader wasn't on the ballot in all states in 2000, for example. Whoever the Libertarian candidate was did manage to get on all the ballots, but apparently didn't have enough money left over to run a campaign even the size of Nader's.

"Kucinich" is the spelling. The only Dem running who doesn't sound insane to me is Moseley Braun. I probably won't vote.
