Brackly Hall - stuck on sphinx

I know where the clue to the sphinx is, but I have always been absolutely useless at riddles and I don't see how the poem can help with four numbers. Argh. What am I doing wrong? It's bugging me now 'cause I think I might be rather near the end!

Spade
Iron Key
Silver Key
Gold Key
Pocket Knife
Cogwheel
Tourist Brochure
Stone Head
Feather
Translated Papyrus
Map of Brackly Hall
Map of the Maze
