My first and only flight was when I was in 10th grade (May of 1995, I think) and I went to Topeka, Kansas for the National Catholic Forensic League speech competition. We had to fly to Atlanta first, which I remember thinking was very strange. I think we flew Delta, and I have no idea how much it cost, but I know my speech coach paid for my ticket because the school wouldn't.

I remember being really excited and giddy- which is basically how I am most of the time, so that's no surprise. And on the way back home I slept through the whole flight, though they told me later they had some really bad turbulence that had the other passengers terrified.

Also, I remember swallowing a lot and enjoying "popping" my ears as we flew higher. :-}
