For some reason, this thread reminds me of something that happened about 15 years ago. I was talking to a boy about 10 years-old in Guatemala. I told him where I was from and the first thing he said is "You're rich." So I said no, I'm just a school teacher, and in the United States, teachers don't make much money. But he asked me if I had a car (His English was excellent.)and I told him I did, and a small truck. He again said "You're rich." Then he went on to say that his father said that only rich Americans can travel in Guatemala. By his standards, I guess I was rich. The funny thing is that his father owned an entire city block including several businesses. By my standards, his family was rich.
