The USA is not perfect. What country is? But we are a vocal society and the internet is a good place to state your opinion. Freedom of speech extends to crack pots and extremist. So, no, things are not as bad as they imply. For most Americans, life is about as good as we can stand. I wouldn't be happy living anywhere else. I've been to some third-world countries that really, really make the good old USA look great.
